THEORY

Ready Position: Parallel Ready Stance (Narani Junbi Sogi)
Definition:
Is the pseudonym of a great philosopher and scholar Yil (1536 - 1584) nicknamed the "Confucius of Korea". The 38 movements of this pattern refer to his birthplace on 38th latitude and the diagram (+) represents "scholar".
ONE STEP SPARRING WITH A PARTNER
Purpose of 1 Step Sparring:
The purpose One step sparring is to train the student to defend and finish the sequence with one blow therefore there is a relation between One step sparring and self defense. In one step sparring the defender can block, dodge or counter simultaneously.
Setting up for 1 Step Sparring

Bow to each other

Attacker Starts in Parallel Ready Stance * No formal measure is needed, distance should already be adjusted)

Defender starts in a Parallel Ready Stance

When the attacker is ready they will “Kihap”

Defender remains in a parallel ready stance and will “Kihap” when they are ready

Perform step sparring with the Defender finishing in L Stance Forearm Guarding Block after the counter
1 STEP SPARRING ( Ilbo Matsogi)
1. Attacker: Right walking stance obverse middle punch
Defender/Counter: Step out with your right leg in a 45 degree angle and perform a sitting stance, perform a high knifehand block with your left hand and a high punch with your right hand simultaneously. Step back into a right L stance forearm guarding block.
2. Attacker: Right walking stance obverse middle punch
Defender/Counter: Step back with your right leg and execute a Hooking kick with left leg and then middle side piercing kick (same leg without putting leg down). Land into a left L stance forearm guarding block

____BOARD BREAKING: Knifehand, Overhead Flying Front Kick
